The MSc in International Construction Management and Engineering will help you develop a “whole life” understanding of constructed facilities and civil engineering infrastructures. The course will prepare you for the challenges of the ever-evolving global construction industry with a focus on the risk, planning and management aspects of the constructed life cycle. On this course, you will explore construction management processes from inception and feasibility, design, procurement and construction through to commissioning, maintenance, renewal and decommissioning. As a result, you will gain the specialist knowledge needed to contribute to and manage projects in the construction industry, building yourself an extensive professional skill set that is sought after in the international construction industry.
Graduates who have studied this MSc degree have utilised the advanced skills learned to pursue successful careers in the UK and internationally in construction project management, civil engineering, planning, design and project consultancy. Therefore, the career opportunities for those completing the degree are large and will continue to grow, especially as fostering individual learning and teamwork is at the core of the programme.
The MSc in International Construction Management and Engineering consists of the following modules:
Principles of sustainable project management; Project management tools and techniques; Contextual Issues in International Construction; Whole Life Asset Management; Risk and resilience; People management; Procurement Management; Construction Engineering.
In addition, over the summer months you will complete a Dissertation under the guidance of your supervisor. This is an independent research project which is one of the most satisfying elements of the course. It’s a chance for you to demonstrate the knowledge and skills you’ve gained, focusing on a real-world construction problem that explores your specific interests and/or relates to your career ambitions.

The programme runs over one year with four (4) modules per semester, plus the dissertation which will run along the three semesters. Students need to achieve the whole 180 credits to be awarded the MSc.
